MSI X58 Platinum LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard
MSI or Microstar International have recently released the new X58 based motherboard upon the public and were kind enough to send us a sample motherboard to present you with yet another full X58 review.
The motherboard up for today’s review is the MSI X58 Platinum Edition which currently sits at the entry level, below the higher-end Platinum SLI Edition and flagship Eclipse. It appears all three motherboards are aimed at different sectors and pockets so while the X58 Platinum does not support SLI or come with an XFI sound card, it is much cheaper. So unless you need those luxuries, the Platinum would be the sensible choice! However, the ‘basic’ Platinum does have Crossfire support, triple channel DDR3 support and of course support for Intel’s latest Core i7 Nehalem processor, therefore I would be mad to accuse the MSI X58 Platinum of being basic.

Asus P6T Deluxe Intel X58 Chipset SLI/CrossFireX Motherboard
The early readiness of the ASUS P6T Deluxe X58 Express motherboard is proof of ASUS’ technical prowess. ASUS already has full retail units of this motherboard ready for sale more than a month before the actual launch of the Intel X58 Express chipset and the Intel Core i7 processor. It is a certainty that the ASUS P6T Deluxe will be one of the few motherboards available for sale on launch date.
However, the P6T Deluxe does not look like a rushed job. As it is a pioneer motherboard for a new platform, it is obvious that ASUS went all out to make this motherboard the best one they could design. Enermax Chakkra Mid-Tower Case
Examine the Chakra case from Enermax with your third eye and you’ll see that it’s the case for you. It comes with plenty of features to keep your computer working in harmonious balance. Its solid black design exemplifies solidity and stability. But it’s what’s on the inside that matters. The reversible 250mm fan on the side panel keeps everything inside cool. If you find it necessary to add additional fans there are mounting holes on the front and back that support 80/90/120mm fans.
The front panel has five external 5.25 drive bays and one external 3.5 bay. The top two bays have drop down covers for your optical drives so you don’t have to worry about matching colors. On the top of the front panel are the power and reset buttons, two USB ports, audio ports and an eSATA port. Top mounting makes access easier, especially if you have the case on the floor by your desk.
Tool free mounting rails and a removable hard drive cage make setting up your system a pleasant process. The expansion slots have pop out covers and instead of screws they have retention clips for fast secure mounting of video cards and other add ones.

Thermaltake Computer Case Options
Thermaltake M9 VI1000BWS w/ Side-panel Window Mid-Tower Case
Thermaltake’s VI1000BWS is an affordable, no-nonsense case that combines style, function and performance. Part of the M9 series of mid-tower cases, it has plenty of room for expansion and tons of potential for modders. Thermaltake Spedo Full Tower w/ Side-panel Window
Thermaltake Spedo (notice that it isn’t called Speedo to not cause trouble with the sportswear manufacturer) is a new series of full-tower cases from Thermaltake. We reviewed the most complete model within this series, called Advance Package, which comes with seven 5 ¼ bays, six internal 3 ½ bays, six fans and a very interesting system to separate the case into different compartments in order to improve the internal airflow. Our initial impression was that this is one of the most complete cases in the market today. Let’s see if Spedo Advance Package lives up to our initial impression.
